NEED YOUR OPINION....

Good Morning Blogger Friends! I hope everyone had a nice Mom's Day. I know I did. I requested no gifts here, as money is tight, and quite honestly, my kids are the best gift I ever received! Not much to report here, still doing the Spring Cleaning thang and hoping that sometime soon, I will have a pile of old brick in my yard! I've been wanting a little brick patio for years and a friend of ours in landscaping says he just might have some old brick for me this week, from a job he's doing. Won't that be faboo! Of course, it'll be even more faboo, if I manage to do the job right, as I am tackling it myself. But another friend has instructed me on just what to do...down to the last detail. So we'll see.

Anyhooo....I need some HONEST opinions from you all. I had this idea of contacting the local realtors in my area (of which there are many) , offering them Gift Certificates to Art n Joy to give to their clients who have bought a house. Personally, I think it's a great marketing idea. BUT being that my art is not very mainstream, I'm wondering if they'll all just have one big hoot and think I'm some kind of foolish, weirdo! lol But then again, a lot of people buying houses here are from NYC either looking for permanent residence or a summer home. And as you know, anyone from a major metropolis is a little more opened minded, when it comes to art and culture. SO having said all that...what do you all think? Is my art appropo enough for the idea? I need HONESTY so let it rip! Thanks all and Happy Tuesday!

Oh yes, the art above is titled "I Have No Home But Me" (A fave quote of mine by Anne Truitt) and is available at Art n Joy on etsy!

I think its a brilliant idea, just as long as you aren't giving things away (your prices are on the low end so to me giving something away means you make less than half of what you would normally make)
People want life and joy and color when they get new things, homes included. You have nothing to lose. Go for it!!!!!! and best of luck, let me know how it goes okay?

eOK, a lot of the stuff we do is not very mainstream. I love the idea of getting a realtor involved in the idea to gift the clients and spread your ary joy. My experience with realtors is that they like to offer something personalized. I've received a Tiffany key chain,a basket of monogramed hand towels and a front door plaque with my last name on it. If I did it, I would probably try to find a way to personalize it. I'm 100% behind you whatever you decide!

I think it's a great idea...but how about offering a coupon to the realtors to have like 25% off anything in your store, they can personalize it for whoever their client is and pay for it. Then you are not out on the marketing, give them a buy one get one for yourself ticket too if you want but make money on the front end...always, if you can. It's a good one...also think about your local frame shops for coupons and thank yous to their customers...being that you are in a digital format...you are free to personalize and that's very marketable for artwork. Good Luck!

I agree that it's a great idea. You're right that our kind of art isn't "mainstream", but maybe you'll open up some eyes!! Please, please, don't give anything away. If you're going to do this, and I know this sounds harsh, but do it for profit. Us starving artists always need the money!! Make sure that the realtors know that your art is worth something! In my experience, some people in mainstream business don't think twice about taking advantage of people.

I have to agree that a coupon would be the best option. Your work is wonderful and you need to get it in front of as many people as you can any way you can....promote, promote, promote girl! ;)

Darcy, first of so sorry for not leaving traces of my visits for ages, I've been incredibly busy at work, and haven't had the opportunity to do much blogging for what seems like eons. I still pop by regularly for a good fix of BlueJude colour and energy...

And I love your marketing idea, your art is truly beautiful and original, and because you make it so affordable I really can't see why they would turn you down. Go for it.

Lots of love
xx

What a great idea for getting your work out THERE ~~ Go for it.

Real Estate agents love give-aways, and if you've got something they can use for promo purposes then I'd say let 'er rip!! The more the merrier!!

Oh ~~ by the way, I never did have my tomato & cheese pie...sigh...
