I did this for the Challenge - Art Ya Name at the Mojo Art Group on Yahoo.
It was a funny thing, cause I had doodled a few sketches, then after the fact, realized that I had used Darcy instead of BlueJude. Of course, that is my real name, but I suddenly felt so exposed! Just about everyone on the net, knows me as, and refers to me as BlueJude.
I guess I also felt a little unsettled because growing up, I never really felt comfortable with my name. It was just so....odd. There was never another Darcy.
And for those of you old enough to remember the TV show Romper Room, whenever she looked into her Magic Mirror, she would see all the Kathy's and Christine's, and Linda's and Lisa's, but NEVER a Darcy! Hmmm...wonder about what repercussions that might have caused to my psyche. lol But we won't even go there!
But now, finally, I'm okay with it. I am who I am....(said Popeye the Sailor Man!...sorry, couldn't help myself)
Anywhoo, if you could change you're name what would YOU choose?
Happy Monday all! Hope it's a creative, and prosperous week, full of blessings....whoever you are!

Beautiful work Darcy....I mean...uh....BlueJade......It is nice to have our alter ego isn't it? this is a creative piece and I love it.
I have always liked the name Darcy. My niece's name is Marcy.Having a common name in school wasn't always fun. The teacher would call on Susan and 4 of us would answer.I always see names I wish I had but now I can't remember what any of them are.My father wanted to name me Emily and my maiden name is Emley and my Mom said NO WAY! Thanks Mom.
I like your challenge piece, both of them.
Hello Darcy! Love the name and the painting. I used to hate my name and wished I had a "normal" name like other girls. Things change... now I like that it is somewhat unusual. xo
What a great piece! I only knew one Darcy in grade school. She was nice, pretty, blonde and rich. Her parents pulled her out of school one year so they could sail around the world. Since then, the name has associations with me as being the LUCKIEST kid in the world!
I'm Ellen and desperately wanted to be called Crystalina when I was a kid. Good things kids don't have the power to change their names, I'm so NOT a "Crystalina".
Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today:) I love your etsy shop...especially uptown and downtown girl!
And as far as names go...I'm Jennifer! Hello! I wanted ANY other name. Growing up in the
70's with 5 billion other Jennifers I tried so hard to be creative and spell it all sorts of different ways! Now I'm quite happy with Jenn;)
xox...jenn
Hello! LOVE your work on etsy and thanks for the comment on my blog! If I could change my name...hmmm.....it would be "sweet crazy princess of love...yes, that will do.
Cheers!

geeze, i LOVED romper room! and she never saw a "katie" either - only kathy.
the face is lovely (as is your name); the little mouth is perfect for the face, all so delicate.
Well DARCY :) I love the new piece. The golden hair and the entire feel of the piece is electric yet calming all at once.
If I could change my name, I would most likely go with Huckleberry!!
If you get a chance, pop over to my blog. I'm having a contest for a free 4" x 6" print.
